Tropical Storm Nicole has technically broken up, however the remnants are hitting the U.S. after causing the recent Jamaica mudslides. North and South Carolina flooding has already begun. A state of emergency has been declared in NC. Other flood warnings are in effect. There are flooding monitors from the Carolinas to Maine. The likelihood of a tornado touching down is significant within the region as well. Thus far, these have been the worst consequences yet of the 2010 hurricane season.
Carolina flooding
CNN reports that Beverly Purdue, the governor of North Carolina, declared the state to be in a state of emergency. Jamaica and Cuba have finished observing Tropical Storm Nicole that is now hitting the U.S. coast. The storm caused the Jamaica mudslides, which just lately killed two people. In three days, the state got done 12 inches of rain. This is when it started to flood. By October 2, one more 8 inches of rain is expected to fall and hit the East Coast. Wilmington, North Carolina, has already had 15 inches of rain fall. It is almost extremely hard to use any roads there.
Tornados are a real issue
